Website navigation, fashion, and fitness applications among top NLX-powered student creations at Atlanta hackathon

Twenty-five teams built conversational experiences using NLX, the first time individuals have been given access to the company’s enterprise platform.

More than 300 students spent a sun-drenched October weekend on the Georgia Tech campus at the second annual AI ATL Hackathon, sponsored by NLX, Google Cloud, and Anthropic, among others.

“Best Multimodal Application,” the NLX-hosted track, challenged builders to create conversational AI applications with two or more modalities, such as chat, voice, and imagery.

The top prize went to SoundSearch for using NLX-patented multimodal technology Voice+ to make complex websites more accessible using real-time voice guidance.

Top prize winner Bill Zhang demos SoundSearch to NLX Co-founder and CEO Andrei Papancea.

Additionally, each sponsor track recognized applications built by students with fewer than two years of experience with AI in a “Beginner” category.

NLX chose DressCode, a digital personal stylist that generates outfit recommendations based on the contents of the user’s closet, and GymLen, a holistic fitness support system where users get exercise and diet recommendations in a personal interactive chat.

Both DressCode and GymLen used patent-pending NLX technology, Generative Journey, which allows users to upload their own images to guide highly personalized responses from the AI.

For example, DressCode users upload images of clothing and accessories from their wardrobe and get outfit recommendations based on weather and occasion.

Similarly, GymLen users upload images of an overall physique or muscle group, and the AI recommends a workout plan and even meals with recipes to help achieve the desired fitness goal.

Throughout the 36-hour event, NLX engineers, conversation engineers, and trainers were on-site to provide coaching and advice as the students worked to bring their ideas to life.

Last but not least, NLX CTO Vlad Papancea and Director of Education Cecilia Bolich conducted a workshop focusing on best practices for creating multimodal conversational experiences and unscripted conversational experiences within structured workflows using NLX Generative Journey.

And that’s a wrap! Not only did we have a blast with the inspiring students and sponsoring companies at this event, we headed back to New York full of optimism, knowing the future of AI is in their hands.

Until next year!
